Modern productivity relies heavily on web-based tasks, many of which are manual and repetitive. To address this, we introduce Magentic-UI, a new open-source research prototype designed for human-centered collaboration on web-based tasks. Unlike fully autonomous agents, Magentic-UI provides a transparent and controllable experience, enabling users to oversee AI actions in real time through their web browser. This tool is ideal for action-oriented tasks requiring more than simple web searches, supporting human-in-the-loop approaches and oversight mechanisms. Built on Magentic-One, a multi-agent system released last year, and powered by AutoGen, Microsoft’s advanced agent framework, Magentic-UI aims to facilitate research into effective human-AI collaboration. Available under the MIT license, it can be accessed at https://github.com/microsoft/Magentic-UI, offering researchers and developers a platform to explore and enhance AI-assisted productivity solutions.
