图灵奖获得者、北京大学客座讲席教授、图灵班创建者之一 John Hopcroft 每一次庆祝会都到场/在线参加。为了表达对他的尊敬和感谢,历届图灵班毕业庆祝会上,2名毕业生代表中,一名用英文发言。

Dear professors and all my fellow classmates:
Good morning!
I am Kecheng Liu from the Turing Class of 2025. It is a great honor to stand here today, to look back on the journey we have shared, and to reflect on the experiences that have shaped us. As I revisit these past years, I am filled with deep pride for the memories we've created, the challenges we've overcome, and the milestones we've reached together.
尊敬的各位教授、亲爱的同学们:
早上好!
我是2025届图灵班的刘科成。今天能站在这里,我深感荣幸。此刻,我们一同回顾这段共同走过的旅程,思考那些塑造我们的经历。回望过去这些年,我满怀自豪,因为我们共同创造了珍贵的回忆,一起克服了重重挑战,也携手抵达了一个又一个里程碑。
As we gather here for the last time in this familiar place as undergraduates, a question echoes in my mind: "If not us, who? If not now, when?" We often hear these words as a call to action, as a challenge to rise up. But today, they are also a mirror, reflecting on the people we've become and the journey we will embark on.
今天我们作为本科生,最后一次齐聚在这个熟悉的地方。我脑海中不断回响着这样一个问题:“如果不是我们,那会是谁?如果不是现在,更待何时?”这句话常被视为一种号召,一种激励我们行动起来的挑战。但今天,它也像一面镜子,映照出我们所成为的样子,以及即将开始的新旅程。
I still remember our first days at Turing Class. Back then, everything was new—new friends, new challenges, and for many of us, new uncertainty. Could I survive in a class filled with Olympiad winners and top scorers? Could I belong? But very quickly, those doubts were answered—not only by what I achieved, but by the people I met. I discovered that this was not a class of competitors, but a community of collaborators. The friendship, that shared warmth and intelligence, is the treasure I found in the Turing Class, and I will carry it with me forever.
我依然清晰地记得我们刚来到图灵班的日子。那时一切都是新的——新的朋友,新的挑战,对于我们之中许多人,还有新的不确定。面对满班的竞赛金牌得主和高分学神,我能生存下来吗?我能融入吗?但很快,这些疑问就有了答案。这不仅源于我所取得的成就,更来自于我遇到的人。我发现,这不是一个充满竞争的班级,而是一个合作共赢的共同体。在图灵班中,我找到了友谊、温暖与智慧的交融是最珍贵的宝藏,我将永远珍藏于心。
In the Turing Class, we weren't told what we should become. Instead, we were trusted to explore with our interests. We were encouraged to serve as teaching assistants, present our ideas publicly, and participate in research rotations, even if we didn't yet feel ready. That trust from our professors, our class advisors, and each other gave us the courage to experiment, to take risks, and most importantly, to make choices.
在图灵班,我们并没有被告知应该成为什么样的人。而是被信任着结合自己的兴趣去探索。我们被鼓励去担任助教,公开展示自己的想法,甚至在以为还未完全准备好时参与科研轮转。正是教授们、班主任、还有我们彼此之间的信任,给予了我们尝试的勇气,让我们敢于冒险,更重要地,让我们学会了做选择。
Before Peking University, our path was predictable. But here, I learned to make decisions not based on fear, but on passion and interest. That's where the idea of today truly resonates. If we, with all the resources and support we've had—if we don't take initiative, who will? If we, at this moment of curiosity and courage, don't step forward, when will we?
进入北大之前,我们的道路都是规划好可预测的。而在这里,我学会了不再基于恐惧作出决定,而是出于热爱与兴趣。这也正是那句“如果不是我们,那会是谁?如果不是现在,更待何时?”的真正意义。如果连我们,拥有如此多资源和支持的人,都不愿主动承担责任,那谁来做?如果连我们,正处在好奇与勇气的黄金时刻,都不愿迈出脚步,那还要等到何时?
Our world is changing faster than ever. New technology brings both promise and peril. We need people who understand complexity, but also people who care deeply. People who aren't afraid to ask hard questions. People who dare to make bold, sometimes uncomfortable choices. If not us—the ones who have spent these years surrounded by excellence and freedom—who will face those challenges? And if not now, at this very moment when we are about to take flight, when? This doesn't mean we have to solve everything overnight. But it does mean we don't wait for "someday." We start today with small steps, with open minds, and with the deep belief that our actions matter.
我们世界的变化比以往任何时候都更迅速。新技术既带来希望,也伴随风险。这个时代需要的不仅是能够理解复杂问题的人,更需要心怀关切的人。需要敢于提出尖锐问题的人,敢于做出大胆甚至令人不适的选择之人。如果不是我们,那些在卓越与自由中成长起来的人,来面对这些挑战,那又是谁?如果不是现在,在我们即将展翅高飞的这一刻,那还要等到何时?这并不意味着我们必须一夜之间解决所有问题,但这意味着我们不应再等待“某一天”。我们要从今天开始,从一个个小的行动开始,以开放的心态,相信自己的每一份努力都意义非凡。
Finally, as we stand at the edge of the next stage, I would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who has dedicated their efforts to the Turing Class and made this journey possible, our professors for their trust, our mentors for their guidance, and each classmate for their brilliance. We are especially grateful to Professor John for establishing and leading the Turing program, and to all faculty of the Turing Class for their selfless support.
最后,当我们站在即将开启新阶段的起点,我谨代表大家向所有为图灵班付出努力、成就这段旅程的人们致以最诚挚的谢意。感谢教授们的信任,感谢导师们的引导,感谢每一位同学的才华横溢。我们尤其感激 John 教授创建并领导图灵计划,以及图灵班全体教职员工的无私支持。
To the next generation of students at Turing Class, I say: explore bravely. To my fellow graduates, I say: fight courageously now to embrace an extraordinary you and a wonderful future. Because the world won't wait, also because if not us, who? If not now, when?

致图灵班往后的学子,我想说:勇敢探索。致我亲爱的毕业生同学们,我想说:勇敢奋斗,去迎接非凡的自己与美好的未来。因为世界不会等待,也因为:如果不是我们,那会是谁?如果不是现在,更待何时?
